Time slips away

As I am preparing this post, I seen how long it has been since I posted. I was going to get up to date with wedding planning and life. Well, obviously that didn't happen. The wedding is one month from today. Time crunch now. Lots to do, but I am keeping faith that it will all fall into place. After the wedding I will blog with everyday events like I origionally planned. Like talking about the new cool scrapbooking tool I found. 2 days ago a friend told me about "Kiwi Lane Designs." They have really cool templates to use to help you with the elimination of making cuts to paper, then hating your idea and having all the wasted paper and money in the trash. I am going to order some of these, play with them and then post my finished layouts on here. As for now, wedding mode is where I need to be.
Where are we in the wedding process? Well, my daughter, a bridesmaid is picking up her dress today. I can't wait to see her in it! Tonight the Bride, her mother and myself are meeting with the caterer to discuss both the rehearsal dinner and reception. I am dropping the cake topper off tonight and this weekend am finishing up the flower girl baskets and a lot of other odds n ends that I have going on. I also need to address my dress situation quickly. I ordered a dress that came and is too big. I should be happy right? That never happens to me, but in this case, not happy, do I just have it altered, do I send it back? I hate sending things back so I am leaning toward altered. I am also concerned about the color. It is saphire blue. She really likes it and I like the dress a lot but it only came in white...obvious why I didn't choose that, or the saphire. Pretty, but not sure it is right for her pastel wedding. But she likes it and told me not to look for another.

That's all the updates for now.

Love this photo

We needed some photos for one of the wedding projects. Of all the pictures I took, this one is my favorite!

Engagement celebration

Both our family & Caitlin's family went out for dinner together to "Country Cupboard" to celebrate the engagement. Although I knew the engagement would not be a long one, I did think it would be about a year...wrong. The wedding is October 2, 2010! Time to get planning in gear right away.

We'll start from the beginning...the Engagement!

It was Valentine's Day, Feb. 14, 2010. Her parents came to our house for a night of card playing, and to occupy our minds because even though Cait didn't know what was coming that night, we did. After the proposal they came over to show us all the ring. She was completely surprised.
It has been a while since I have been on here but with the upcoming wedding of my son, my friend suggested I start blogging about it. Not that I have time for one more thing in my life...but here goes.

We have been planning since February so things will not always be in an up to date order of how we are doing things, but eventually all the fun things will be added on...I hope.

Griswald flashback

Usually Christmas decorating at the Herbster house happens the day after Thanksgiving, but since I am working tomorrow hubby got in his head that we should put up some ourside embellishments today. I wasn't on board with the idea but went along with it. I put my list of things that I wanted to do on my only day off aside and we decided to put up some outdoor decorations. The first box I grabbed brought on flashbacks of "National Lampoons Christmas Vacation." As I am carrying a tree down the steps the bottom fell out. All the parts from the lighted spiral tree scattered down the stairs, the Candy Canes that were in my other arm flew everywhere. Let the laughing begin. We continue on and get those decorations up. Next up was the snowflake lights to hang around the porch. We untangle them and I hold them as he goes around. The plastic hooks from last year all broke as he went so off he goes into the garage to get new. I wait patiently thinking this just doesn't seem right with all the fallen leaves still scattered here and there. Ok, he's back. Now back to the lights! We go around get them all up and he says..."I started with the wrong end." Yes, in deed he did. Now he is really starting to look a little like Clark. Off they come and we chalked it up to a practice run and did it again. Put up some greens, a snowman, a sled and It is done for now.
Now, back to my plans for the day. No! I come back in and there he is with more decorations. Wanting to put up some in the breeze way to greet our friends and family. Okay, he is on a mission so I let him go. I sneak inside and he tells me we might as well continue with the inside. Music to my ears? NO. I think for a moment before speaking and realize I might as well give in. So off I go to decorate.

I hope everyone has a wonderful Thanksgiving.

Thankful Reflections

With tomorrow being Thanksgiving of course I have many thoughts on my mind. Although my life is not free of hardships and pain, I can still find many things that I am thankful for. First and foremost for life. Life that God has given me. It may not be the life that I would choose for myself but I am grateful to have it. With just learing last night that a family member lost her 3 year battle with breast cancer at too young of an age, I am grateful for health and life. While her family will be sad and mouring her loss on Thanksgiving and all the days surrounding it, I am grateful that I have family to laugh with and cry with. The family stress that often comes with holidays will be easier to deal with if I keep this blessing on my mind. I am so thankful for my husband and my children. None of whom are perfect, but I love them as if they were. Letting my children know on a daily basis how much I love them is important to me. They know it without question. They are loved. So in this life full of imperfections, find the things you are blessed to have, the good things, the things you are thankful for.
